The New York Liberty will host "Breast Health Awareness Night" on July 31st to benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. 15%-20% of all tickets sold will be donated to BCRF.
Shay Doron Plays for The Cure
Shay Doron is actively involved in raising awareness and support for Breast Cancer research. Inspired by the fighter spirit of North Carolina State University's coach of 31 years, Kay Yow, who returned to the sidelines this season in the midst of battling stage IV cancer, Shay is committed to doing whatever she can to help the cause.
According to the American Cancer Society, an estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer will be diagnosed in American women in 2007 alone. It is the second-leading cause of cancer-related death in women, and an estimated $8.1 billion is spent in the United States each year on treatment of the disease.
In honor of Coach Yow and all the other members of the basketball community, family, and friends whose lives have been affected by this devastating disease, 100% of the proceeds from Shay's online store will be donated to benefit Breast Cancer research.
